I actually plan on starting the process of owning a handgun this year.
Its something I have planned on partially due to the fact that I am supposed to take over some WWII handguns from my grandfather eventually.
But after what happened to that family in CT recently it pretty much confirmed that I want a hand gun for the protection of my family.

when the FID laws went into effect ~30 years ago it was a lifetime registration.
done deal i immediately went and registered. no gun but why be stupid. you never know what circumstances will play. It sounds crazy to worry about but several years later it actually played out. My boss at the time had me use his el camino to transport a big projection TV system. I get back and he asked me " you didn't mess with my gun did you?" Turns out unbeknownst to me, he had a gun under the seat.
Fast forward another 25 years. it's now 75 bucks every 3 years to maintain an FID.
it is now an odious burden to maintain an FID 'just in case'.
of course maybe that is what the legislature is after.

A society of lawfully armed citizens is a safe society. When the only people carrying guns are the criminals, we start to have problems.
Responsible gun ownership FTW!!!

I'm a liberal and an NRA member. Go figure. A therapist would have a field day with this.

Luckily I was crazier then they were , and they were more scared then I . I pretty much put the gun holder in a situation that he was going to use it or not , pretty much call there bluff . By that time I was able to focus on faces instead of rage. I ended up knowing two of them and they were pleading with me as they left ,as they knew it was not over .
I was very lucky...... unfortionalty one of them took the spare set of keys to my car ( Yellow civic ) and stole it later that night . I believe this is what they were after all along . But little did they know my license was suspended and they stole a unregistered car LOL and got popped ...... lucky for me I got the car back in one piece
If I had a gun they would most likely be dead and I locked up for life and would have never met any of you
