Default Odd qustion, anyone own a TAZER?

I am debating on the purchase of a tazor and curious if anyone has any knowledge on this? I did some research and here is teh one that seems best for what I want. If you have ant data that would be great. purpose would be for general protection..... don't feel comfortable with hand guns in the house but this I feel a little more comfortable with...... thoughts?

I know its not a car question but value the input of people on this forum....

What makes you think you need this at all? Bad neighborhood? Druggies around the corner? Depending on who you would end up using it on, it's possible YOU could end up being the one who gets hurt.

I've never done any research on tasers and I think Jeff would be the right person to answer your question. Guns I preffer, personal opinion.

I know what Jeff would say, and I would agree with him.

If I considered anything for general home protection, it would be a handgun.

I can't see the site (blocked at work) however it is either the thing that you have to get near the perp, or you got one chance to shoot. Neither are appealing if someone is wielding a knife.

I can't concieve of a situation where there is an intruder in my house where I wouldn't want to be armed.

Hopkinton is not a bad area

and while i am not a huge fan of guns a taser like the PD use would be ok because you do not need to be near the perp to zap them - i think it's like 15 feet or something

however if the perp has a gun and you have a tazer you're pretty much

and since i just read the site let's say two perps break into your home - you can only zap one so now i'd say you're screwed

just adopt a BIG ass dog and buy an alarm system

I don't know. I know crime can happen anywhere, but we've never felt the need to have weapons in our home. I drive through some pretty nasty neighborhoods daily on the way to the bank for the office, yet never felt the need to carry any kind of weapon.

So far I haven't needed a weapon to protect myself from the dead hooker in my crawlspace but you never know... she could become a zombie. I've seen movies where that type of thing happens, and if it does, I'd probably want a gun over a tazer.
