The HD... is not TRUE HD obviously. If I said FULL 480p I would be over exadurating. Looks like upscaled DVD IF that. Other movies being streamed look like 1500 to 2500MBps and shadows have pixelation to a certain extent.
I am on 46" 1080p TV... I bet everything would look twice as good if you werent as close to the TV as I am and it is 42" or below.

did anyone else score the HD dvd player add-on for the xbox 360? i bought one last year for $50 bucks with free king kong hd-dvd

Yeah, I just noticed the catch that most new popular movies are not available on instant play after I signed up. See, I knew there had to be something!
