THE midsummer Bike ride.
Ok so I'll start a unique thread for the bicycle ride.
The when:
SUNDAY JUlY 26th 9:30
The where:
Starting at my house in Bolton, precise address will be PM'ed to riders.
The ride:
Bolton to Nashua via rt 110/111 and the Nashua River Rail Trail .
the ride is ~21.5 miles.
The first 5 or so are hilly with one major climb.
After that it levels out.
It should take about 2.5 hours to complete the ride as we'll stop a few times along the way.
Once on Prospect hill in Harvard after the long climb ~mile 4.
Stellar views.
Again in Ayer at the start of the rail trail and once on the trail.
Why stop? Mainly because I don't want my butt to go to sleep
The how:
I will drop my ML at the nashua end of the trail. it seats 5 and can take 3 bikes on the rack and at least 2 in the cargo area.
We'll drive that back to Bolton.
If more transport is needed we'll sort that out as required.
My thought is after the ride food and beverage here at the house.
The who:
Barb and I will be making the ride
Ben
Connie
Al AJLafleche
The tire kickers:
Mark
Kenta
Julius
Josh?
and the terrain. although this is backwards, we started in Nashua.

the big hill isn't on that chart.
it's ~300 ft up but over 2+ miles
it's never ohmagawd steep, just loooong.
actually this is where a mountain bike does have an advantage.
you've got lower gears than a road bike.

I did a solo 19+ today on rolling terrain and confirmed the Subaru is available on the 26th, so if there's room for another rider, and the weather cooperates, i.e., no serious rain, count me in.

did the hilly 10 this morning and doing another hilly 12 tomorrow.
barb's goal is to do the Wachusett Reservoir Loop this year.
It's only 17 miles but it's ~6 miles to and from and has some hills.
so at 30 it's outside the window right now.
In the fall, it's a stellar ride.

Well my ride today took me from Farmington all the way into Riverton, CT. A beautiful place and I was able to follow the Farmington River for quite some time. I ended up at my favorite place to pick up fresh made pasta and lasagna. I was planning on a 50 mile ride, but ended up being 48. I thought it was close enough. A few pictures of my ride.
Flyfisherman- there were quite a few out today.
Downtown Riverton still has a general store.
