There is some research, but usually associates (lawyers) do that sort of thing. You may be asked to go on line and retreive a list of cases, or update some research.
There are a number of courses and programs you can enroll in. Some firms will hire people without any training if they are smart and can be trained. A number of people go into this our of college while they try to figure out what they want to do next (law school, B school, Masters programs, etc). You can earn a fair living at it

well if its from family they can write in sellers concessions into the loan and use that as a down payment so nothing has to come out of his pocket. It work out pretty well for everyone.
