[QUOTE=g-s2k,Jul 13 2005, 11:17 AM] Perfect example of why Honda made the changes... to PLEASE the US (North America) Market.

Of course there will be problems with first year models.

The only thing from Steve's list I'd consider a change to please the US market is the change to a glass rear window. The rest were just early model mistakes from Honda (Yep, I said it... Honda isn't infallible).

Thanks I'll add them to my bookmarks. They seem to have things that are actually sold in stores in this area.

How honda wanted it to be - I guess except for the spark plugs backing out, banjo bolts, #4 Cylinder problems, holes in the top (Check right behind the driver's door and see if there are holes in the top) clouded rear plastic windows, faded tail lights, etc etc

I hope Honda wanted it better than that for it's 50th anniverery car
All problems I have never had with my 01

I have also never had a TSB done to anything on my car.

1) I have never had a spark plug loosen ( but there is always a chance)
2) The banjo bolts are a myth ,you are still limited to the amount of oil the banjo area can flow not the bolt.
3) #4 cylinder problem is more likely due to abuse and lack of oil than a problem. Must make sure you check your oil this is not your family Volvo.
4)Just checked still no holes in my top ( I don't wash the top with soap, just water .Soap tends to dry it out. I have also never treated my top with anything. petroleum based product tend to dry things out also so beware.)
5) Only a lazy owner has a clouded up window ( I use window polish and can wait a full year before I have to do it again)
6) tail lights look just as good as day one

So Thomas ................I mean Steve your point is ...............

Can you name owners in New England that have had these problems to the amount of owners that haven't then tell me the percentage rate of failures.

Stop trying to scare the newbies Steve

If you read the S2000 book you can see exactly what they intended. The original S had 5 cylinders and all kinds of stuff The drivetrain was all new for the S. The F20C was the basis for all the new engines that came after. I would consider the earlier years more 'pure' in terms of handling and later years more 'tuned' in terms of power but that is only to be expected for a totally new drivetrain. I would class the earlier years as an enthusiasts car and the latter years as a drivers car. All of them are great

Rowland had the #4 problem

a ton of folks on the baord had the spark plugs back out -

Scott all kidding aside - you raise a valid point - not many on the board had problems BUT i beleive that is because we read and share infomation regarding the S - i wonder how many did have problems because they did not know..
