Default layoffs @ work

well, they laid off 5 people this morning (out of 55ppl in the office)

3 admins and 2 junior engineers

im pretty effing nervous since, my job was just created (hence they did fine before without the position) and i have only been here 6 weeks. my boss tells me not to worry, but man o man have i never been so stressed.

this economy blows

its crazy cause the people here say they cant remember the last time they laid off people. arrrrgh

We had a bunch of layoffs a few weeks ago. The silver lining there was I moved up a lot in the office football pool.

but what you fail to realize is that your newly created job used to be that of 4 people - we had a small layoff last week and just got notice that there will be no holiday parties this year..

Maybe they started you on the lower end of the pay grade and ended up canning some dead weight long timers on the high end of the scale.

oh i do realize that! thats what makes me feel extra bad for these people

I will be doing all of the work one of them did, and alot of the work 2 others did.

Were still having an xmas party, but they said they will no longer be giving christmas gift cards out (which im assuming was their christmas bonus)

Funny you're having trouble. We are dying for software engineers on our team and can't find people to fill the spots!
