Last Night's Rain Showers
#12
Moses - temps were low to mid 40s last night on the cape and you're driving in upwards of 90 mph on Route 6 in the rain???
and then you state that someone in a POS wanted to race *In the Rain* you picked it up?? -
what the heck is wrong with you?? - far too many things could have gone wrong - far too many things :sigh:

I wasn't at 90 mph when he wanted to race, probably 60 mph. I just wanted to see if racing was his intention and it was, so I let him "win". People in a POS who want to race usually have little to loose and will go to the edge to win. I just wanted to get home.
The 90 mph was Route 3 (on the way back) which was much clearer than Route 6. You could see clear lines on the road from water dispersing. On Route 6 it was a little hectic out. Route 3 on the way down was just a bear because it was 3:30 pm and the glare made it hard to see, and sunglasses made it too dark. Much more drivers on the road too.

From this month's Evo (british mag):
Bridgestone Potenza S-03, 215/45 17
Rank: 7th of 8
1. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
2. Continental ContiSportContact
3. Toyo Proxes T1-S
4. Pirelli P7000
5. Michelin Pilot Sport
6. Dunlop SP Sport 9000
7. S03's
8. Avon ZZ3
Keep in mind that tread compounds for the UK might be different than the ones we get. Also, I hear S-03's are marketed as a luxury performance tire in Japan. So who knows?

That's because they don't make s02s in 17inch sizes and RE50s were not designed when this artical came out..
Thomas Honestly you could use any brand tire because you don't push the car to it's limits - Vtec, hard brake, Vtec hard brake, cornor hard brake

S02's have been discontinued for some time except for Porsche & Honda applications. If you're buying a flagship tire, they're all good within reason.
Evo is probably considering tire mileage, where we aren't. Eagle F1's are suppose to be noisy, as well as P7000's

My usual 45 minute commute home took me an hour and a half due to the weather we had up here last night. We had sleet/ice and then rain which was all landing on top of frozen salt and slush on the 2 lane highway that I commute on. Even while in four wheel drive I didn't get much over 30 m.p.h., we all have to remember to tone it down while driving in bad weather.
