Default Last Night's Rain Showers

I had to drive From Boston to Chatham and back yesterday for a funeral and the S03's were incredible in the rain. Route 6 is prone to hydroplaning, and the car was easy to control, and on Route 3, the S03's drove really fast and confident.

Imagine if yesterday was snow instead of rain!! We wouldn't be at work today.

Jim from tirerack said that some race car teams actually use S03 as their rain tires. That says something.

what does it say thomas????

SO2s and S03s are SUMMER only tires and while it has been said that the SO3s are slightly better in wet enviroments they still suck compaired to something like an Aquatread tire

Moses "the S03's drove really fast and confident" sounds like you're just waiting to Hydoplane ie cold weather + wet roads =

Haha, Steve are you jealous of our wonderful S03? After driving on S02 and S03, I can say the difference is significant. S03 is not slightly better then S02 in wet condition, S03 is a looooooot better than S02 in wet condition.

Steve does have a point though, cold weather+wet roads does = invitation to disaster.

Ya, things could get dicey in the cold, but the season is coming to an end for driving spirited. I wouldn't drive like that come Jan- March, you have to drive the car quite carefully, and the sportiness is at zero with summer tires (yes, I do drive the car in the winter with summer tires) The hydroplaning was minimal at best. Route 6 seems to have a different pavement composition that creates thin puddles on the surface. You can only go as fast as is safe for everyone around, and sometimes that's going well below the speed limit or not driving at all.

From this month's Evo (british mag):

Bridgestone Potenza S-03, 215/45 17

Rank: 7th of 8

1. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
2. Continental ContiSportContact
3. Toyo Proxes T1-S
4. Pirelli P7000
5. Michelin Pilot Sport
6. Dunlop SP Sport 9000
7. S03's
8. Avon ZZ3

Keep in mind that tread compounds for the UK might be different than the ones we get. Also, I hear S-03's are marketed as a luxury performance tire in Japan. So who knows?

Sounds as if you were trying to "push" the tires into slipping/spinning? I wouldnt even be caught in the rain in my S, i dont care what kind of tires are on it! The car is scary in the rain! Theres so many accident stories on here, many are Rain or inclement weather related.

The way to Chatham I had to take a break at the bridge because my eyes were strained from concentrating on the road. I am sure I didn't go above 90 mph on the trip. I can "see" why F1 races are so short.

One guy in a beat up Cavalier wanted to race, so Ipicked the temp up a little and he took off and passed me, then I backed way off to see if he'd end up in the ditch. Why someone would want to race in a down pour is besides me?

How the Toyo's & P7000's beat S03's is really biased. Looks like they're just not Bridgestone fans... I wish Michelin made the PS2's our car in 16", they look like amazing tires.
