I see it as thievery no matter where you live!

I am a step 10 and live in the city. But there ought to be competition between insurance companies. They ought to be allowed to compete with rates for our buisness.
well you need to first understand why this do this and how insurence works...... i not have time to write a essay about it right now but ask away

State of MA insurance regulations obviously differ from State of CT.

There is very little change in premium from company to company. Our rates are based on driver's "point system", the kind of car you drive, where you live, coverages, etc.

In addition to safe driver credits, about the only break you may get is if your company gives a AAA discount, etc.

As far as I know, there is no competion between insurance companies in MA. Very few companies write car insurance in this state. It's a loser.

I understand how the insurance works in this state or should I say doesn't work. It is really quite sad.

I just don't understand why the residents of Mass are so willing to just accept things the way they are.

Kay,

Campbuds is new to MA (moved here from PA) and has been surprised by how our insurance rates work.

I noticed you are from CT. I was trying to point out that there are no bargains here in MA when it comes to car insurance, and I'm fairly certain the insurance laws differ from CT to MA.

Nothing personal.

Rick,

I think the mess started when the state went with the "no fault" system.

And you're right it's sad that we have come to accept it as it is. The old expression "can't fight city hall" may apply here.

Off topic. Did you see the building in downtown with the mural painted on it? The Whaling Wall. It looks good.
