I'm an Eagle Scout, and being prepared is just a good habit. And I'm not some crazy constitution-waving conservative, but I get rather pissed that more and more people tend to view a small pocket knife as a weapon. I'm fine with stowing it when I go to places like courthouses and airports, but beyond that I refuse to feel like a criminal because I carry a pointy object.
Never went that high, but believe me, I totally get it. Congrats BTW, great accomplishment.

yeha the concept of a knife as a useful tool seemed to have slipped from the lexicon of daily life. of course maybe if you never do anything, the tool has no use.

I carry a baby swiss army knife on my keychain.
it's handy. it has a little set of clippers and a fingernail file and a little 1 inch blade.

I had to take a quick 1 day turnaround jaunt to baltimore a few moths ago.
I was walking across the walkway into the terminal in manchester and realized I still had it on my keychain.
I was in fully gimpy mode with the crutches and didn't want to go all the way back to my car.
then i saw the planter.
like a proper terrorist I slid the knife off of my keychain and dropped it into one of the plants.
picked it up on my way home

no plants were harmed in the making of this story.

Yeah, my wife has one of the same knives on her keychain, and the pat-down crew spotted it when they looked in her purse on the way into the Bon Jovi concert at Mohegan Sun. They wouldn't allow it in.... as if we were gonna stab someone with a 1" blade. But it was understandable, as it's their job, and my wife didn't remember it was on there before she practically showed it to them. But with nowhere to go, it was either throw it out, or go back to the car, which would take a good 15 minutes. So, we stepped out of line for a bit to deliberate our options.

I chose to remove it from her keychain and stash it in my pocket. We went through a different line, nobody cared, all was safe, and I didn't have to buy her a new one.

I, however, had anticipated this and left my knife in the car.

And nobody at all was harmed in the making of this story.

in 2002 we stopped at the ferry to go over to Statton island to see the statue of liberty ( enable irony here).
we had to go through a security check equivalent to any airline terminal.

yup i had to walk back to the car with my little 1 inch knife.
maybe they thought I would carve my initials in the toes of the statue, except you couldn't get within a 100 ft as they had it chained off.

Actually, I would love one like that too...

No clue where this one is, it's just a google find. Ours eventually got taken off to the junk yard, it was the farm vehicle, the front window being taken out by a chain breaking and snapping back like a snake was the final straw, but it was on marked time ever since we dropped a portion of an Elm tree on the roof.
