I remember when you could sneak a pocket knife into school and not end up on the evening news.
I would routinely carry a 4 inch blade buck knife and 3 or 4 case cutters in my pocket just because I'd forget to take them out my pocket.
and Steve, I can remember when people smoked on flights.
planes had smoking and non-smoking sections.
and oh yeah I used to carry a swiss army knife on flights too.

I'm an Eagle Scout, and being prepared is just a good habit. And I'm not some crazy constitution-waving conservative, but I get rather pissed that more and more people tend to view a small pocket knife as a weapon. I'm fine with stowing it when I go to places like courthouses and airports, but beyond that I refuse to feel like a criminal because I carry a pointy object.
For my wedding last summer, I purchased knives as a groomsmen's gift, and had them engraved. (Buck Rush knives) Since they were "assisted open" knives, I actually had to research the laws to make sure I wasn't getting anyone in trouble. It took a long time, really started to annoy me when I found out that the CT law actually has verbage that criminalizes anything "considered to be a dangerous weapon." Basically, the only thing I took away from reading all the related legislation was that pretty much everything can be illegal if you irritate the wrong person.
