Ok so whats the deal to buy before ?? Is it that you lock in a lower rate? Would that rate stay with you till death?
The older you are, the more your rate is to start. If you have any health issues, they give you a "rating" meaning you'll pay more for the insurance than someone without the issue.

Generally, most term insurance policy premiums increase each year at your birthday. You're now older, so heck, they may have to "pony up" and pay out a benefit.

At one point, SBLI was offering "X" amount of coverage with a locked premium for something like twenty or twenty five years, but that was a while ago, not sure what they offer now.

George, call Cubby to get a quote. It's better to have a "stand alone" policy as if your employment situation changes in five or ten years down the road, you'd then be an "old dude" looking for life insurance. Tracey should have a decent policy too.

Get it while you are young.

neat calculator - http://www.sbli.com/needscalc.aspx
help estimate how much life insurance you need
Good calculator...however there are many different ways to calculate insurance needs....and there is no correct or preferred formula.

Remember...this calculator was designed by people selling insurance

that said. Most people under estimate their needs.

There ya go....don't worry about life insurance unless you marry and have a ton of kids. Your relatives will have to deal with the mortgage, the septic and whatever other loose ends you leave behind. They probably deserve the anyway.

Ya, but JT, when that Russian bride arrives and you make a baby or two, you might NEED the life insurance. Better get it now before you become Tempus fugit, you know.
