Default I fought the law...

So if you remember a few months ago i got pulled over for supposedly running a red light. what happened was, and i'm sure it has happened to most of us was that right when you get to the intersection the light turns yellow. of course you go through it because we all know that cars don't stop on a dime. well i got a 150 dollar ticket for running a red light. the officer said to me that his was green and mine was red. well if that was tru then we all would have been sent to the hospital cause i would have hit him cause he would have started to pull out the side road that he was sitting in. I wasn't even in my S, my grandmother and i were in her Accord. I was going to have my grandmother come in as a witness but in my heart i thought i was going to win this.
So i saw the magistrate and just told him that the light was yellow when i started to enter the intersection. he said that he will take 50 bucks off. i had the option of appearing in front of a judge, but i didn't see that to be worth it. the way i see it is the city is trying to make any money that they can and we all suffer for it.
i guess next time i'll slam my brakes on when the light turns yellow. JK
i can't see how they could give a ticket with nothing to back it up. they have radar for speeding. oh yeah the whole you'll win if the cop doesn't show is BS.
I'm going to talk to my ins company today and see if this goes on my record and will it hurt my ins. i'm guessing yes, but seeing that i fought it first may help.
i'm sure one way or another i'll be taking it out the arse.
Sorry for my long rant!!!

the whole thing if the cop doesn't show part is if you went to a judge, and the cop doesn't show you win, in a magistrate the police only need a representaive, which i am sure they had someone read the cops side of it. If i truly think i will win or they have no proof i will take it to a judge..... and sorry man that does kinda suck.

In Ohio, the law enforcement complex has a neat wrinkle: you (or your paid representative) have to appear at an "arraignment" to enter a plea. No need for the cop to be there; you have to lose a day's work or hire an attorney to appear for you. If you contest the citation, then the court sets a date for you to take another day off work to appear and notifies the cop to be there then.

They do that in SC too...2 friends of mine got pulled over for speeding on their
way to the bike week at Myrtle Beach. They had to pay a lawyer to appear for them.

Sounds like a money making scam between the state and lawyers IMHO.
