if you can get a truck this weekend - we can get the professional floor buffer from work (i already have the pads) - i used about a gallon of wood floor cleaner from home depot and then topped the floors with this stuff is the BOMB

you use a micro fiber towel mop thing - it dries in 15 minutes and you can add six coats - floors look brand new when done
I'm definitely up for it. Just tell me what I have to buy and I'll have a truck ready. Is the floor cleaner something that comes in a gallon container or did you just use a whole bunch of them?

Legal Bill's top floor clean-up tricks.

1. Stiff bristle brush and Murphy's oil soap. On your knees and start scrubbing! If the problem is ground in dirt, the bristle brush is what you need. I find this works the best because you can go with the grain and the bristles realy dig the crap out of the wood. Use warm water.

2. Mineral Spirits and/or Laquer thinner. OPEN THE WINDOWS!!! Put some on a rag and rub the dark areas that look like built up crumbly soot. If it breaks it down, apply it with a bristle brush and the use a rag with more thinner to clean up the dissolved crap after you break it up. If you just let the thinner evaporate without clening it up off the floor, the crap will re-harden.

3. Electric finish sander. It sounds like a lot of work, but you get a nice smooth finish using an elecric palm sander. Start with 100 grit and finish with 200. Big floor sanders are much faster and much easier to make terrible mistakes that look like your floors were finished with an ax!

4. At least two coats of poly after you sand.

You may not need to poly after you do the Murphys and a bristle brush.
