Default Home owner's insurance

Got our home owner's insurance policy renewal yesterday. It's ONLY up 47% over last year! Mind you, we have had no claims, and aren't close to the water. If we were, my agent tells me the company would have cancelled us.

The agent is going to see if any other company can do better, but he told me he feels the insurance companies are gouging people. No kidding!

He's working on it. Everyone around here has been getting huge increases in premium.

Insurance for the crack house was about $670. The part I really disliked was my bank's requirement for me to front the whole year. Not only that... but they'll still charge me for insurance installments on my upcoming payments. So.. they just get to hold $670 of my money "just in case".

wonder if it's because "replacement" costs are so expnesive OR maybe they knew you got a fancy new kitchen

I don't know. But others I know, who in the past were paying in the $600.00 range are also getting quotes for $1000.00.

When I looking into insurance a few weeks ago prices were all over the map. Mine ranged anywhere between $550 and $1100 depending on who I called.

Lainey, do you use the same company you get car insurance through? That usually gives a discount. Mine is around $700 (with discount) for my house. I"m curious to see if they jack it up this year too.

My auto insurance does not like me = too close to the water. ;*(

Also my past Homeowners sold out their portfolio last year. So this November I will be looking at an increase for sure!

So add this onto the fact that our re-evaluations are killing the everyday folks in Milford, we are truely getting raped.

No mod money this year
