I got hit and run covered under comprehensive twice, but whatever...

It may not matter anyway b/c he probably has the same deductible on both
Good to know that! I'm going to keep that in mind.

Our comprehensive deductible is only $300.00 where as collision is $1000.00. For those who don't know a lower comprehensive deductible doesn't cost all that much and might be worth it to you if the creeps come to steal your seats or break into your vehicle.

Higher coverage limits don't cost that much either...never know what you might hit or run through...

I have MetLife. I have $300 on comprehensive and $500 on collision.

I had one hit-and-run when the car was parked. The other was getting rear-ended when I stopped at a light. The sucker tried to drive off but I chased him down. I told him I was going to call the cops, then he went back into the car and drove off again. I got his plate # and filed a police report. I then filed an insurance claim under comprehensive.

Other insurance co. and/or state may work differently...

We're in MA, here remember? When we bought the WRX, we increased deductibles on collision to $1000.00, that and the new lower rates brought our cost to insure three cars to the same price that we had been paying for two. So, we'll take the higher collision deductible for now.

Edit: Unless you mean higher coverage for liability protection? We've got high coverage on that too. Problem for many is that if you have any points/surcharges against you, the "big ticket" coverage like collision and liability coverages are increased depending on just how bad your record is. It can get expensive and people start to decrease coverage when that happens. Not always a wise move.

Wow, sorry to see this happen to your beautiful S2000.

I have to say, I wonder what the heck the driver was driving to make such a low hit, and, not that I'm defending the dirt bag by any means, but with it so low I wonder if they even knew they hit your car?

Good luck with the paint match, I know that is the bane of my existance...

I just switched my car insurance, well it's effective July 1, and went back down to $500 deductible (from $1000) since I no longer have body shop "connections" like I used to.

Best part of the change is that I will soon be saving more than $50 a month with the new company. Definitely pays to shop around once in awhile.

Don't skimp on the repair shop. Previous owner had my rear bumper cover re-sprayed by some not so good shop who used basically no flex agent. Minor bump to the rear and the paint flaked off like there was nothing holding it on

I have to say, I'm always surprised when I see such high deductables, I have looked at this issue many times and I just don't see huge savings for these bigger deductables, at least I don't see them with my insurance company. I have $200 deductable for Comp. and Coll. on all three vehicles. And, maybe I don't see the difference as being very big because I essentially have such huge liability coverage.Gosh knows, insurance companies are not created equal, and I just recently changed to Allstate because my older company was just abusing the hell out of my wallet.

Actually, Spa owners, Rio is way easier to match.
BTW_ Honda could not even get my outside rear view mirrors to match the doors...
