Hey Jeff!
So, I hate what I do. I'm bored. My boss is a PITA (I know they are supposed to be but this one takes the cake). I want to be paid what I'm worth. I want a place I can grow. I'm 30 and want to re-mod my life.
SERIOUSLY considering applying to the CT Law Enforcement Council and taking the test.
We seem to have similar views and you seem to really enjoy what you do.
What are things I may not have considered in making a drastic change to a career path like this? What are reasons I shouldn't do it?

Do it! Civil job = benefits, pensions you'll never see in the private sector.
Plus, Becky might think a guy in uniform is really, really HAWT. If so, Bass won't stand a chance in hell of stealing her away from you.

Geez, between Ryan, Jeff, and Dmitriy we could have our very own Police Dept.
Seriously, while law enforcement was never on my radar, you're young Ryan. Now is the time to make a career change that can lead to something you enjoy doing.
I had a job opportunity about twenty years ago, pretty much doing what I do now, (which is OK) and the job was with a regional school. I kick myself in the tail, over and over for not going with a job that would have provided much better benefits and a pension and benefits at retirement.
Working for small business is OK, and it sometimes it may have a little more flexibility than other places of employment, but if I was starting over.....................................
As they say in the Nike commercials "Just do it!"

Take the test at minimum as you weigh your options. But if you hate your job as much as you say, you need a change of somekind.
I always wanted to go into LE but Ive had back issues since I was 21. Wish I had had the opportunity.

If I were to do any form of law enforcement, it would accident reconstruction and investigation. Possibly forensics.
Dealing with stiffs wouldn't bother me. Little kids it might
I just love the physics of putting crashes back together.

In my spare time I'm a firefighter for my local fire department and love the accident scenes. I've seen some pretty gory stuff, but absolutely love reconstructing what might have happened in my head. if I could get paid for it...I'd do it.
Heck I'd be in LE right now except for my current salary is so bloated that I'd never be able to take that kind of pay cut.
