One more point regarding the epoxy floor paints. My wife and I did the job: we both started with brushes working around the edges. After about half of the edges (and any expansion joints down the middle that require a brush) were done, I worked on the floor with an 18" roller while she finished the edges. We were barely able to get it done before the paint hardened. If I had it to do over, I'd want a third person so we could get it all done a bit faster. That stuff gets thick pretty fast after the hardener is added.

Does it make sense to do it one side at a time? That would be my plan. Move everything to one side of the garage and paint the bare side of the floor. After it dries, move everything to the painted side and do the other side. Do you think the area of overlap would stand out?

My floor has a groove to control cracking down the middle. If you have a groove down the middle of the floor, you could probably tape it off so that the edge between the two applications was in the groove. I wouldn't think that would really show.
