You guys need to move to westport. Town folk HATE taxes and never vote to approve the purchase of anything. The fire department still uses horse drawn pumpers and the cops ride horses

Anyway, my tax for the year was around $1400 last year. I have almost 2 acres in the woods that was appraised at $250k. For reference, my friend down the street has a $400k home and only paid a little upwards of $2k IIRC.

Jeff, you're doing well in Westport. In our little small town, we pay around $2200.00 in taxes for our large piece of property and our huge house.

The darn Police Dept always wants new high tech gadgets such as new cruisers, tazers (that would only be used on me ) and fancy radios. I say give them pre-paid cell phones and the fire dept is asking for new fire trucks and don't get me started on schools - i don't use them BUT go to the town meetings and always vote NO on overrides (I think I

If my crack house deal goes though, I'll pay ~$2200.00 a year as well.

I thought the bank appraisal and the town tax estimate were different entities.
