Why not? I am already paying enough in taxes. Might as well give soemthing back to the taxpayer instead of welfare. At my current internet bill of $50/month, I would save $600 a year. Sounds good to me.

During his "State of the City" address earlier this year, the Mayor of Leominster set a goal of providing free, city wide wireless access. He didn't put a time frame on it, but he's always followed through with his goals in the past.

Lainey when was the last time you were appraised? We just went through re-evaluation last fall. I don't know what the tax hit will be yet. Whats the formula again for mill rate then appraisal value = tax hit?

You mean assesed by the town? It's been a while. I'd say the value by the town is probably off by 30-35K in my favor, if we are truly talking selling price = assessed value.

ok wiki'd it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Property_tax

To calculate the property tax, the authority will multiply the assessed value of the property by the mill rate and then divide by 1,000. For example, a property with an assessed value of US$ 50,000 located in a municipality with a mill rate of 20 mills would have a property tax bill of US$ 1,000.00 per year.

So my case give or take a few numbers is -
Assessed value $267,810
Alleged new mil rate 24
would have a tax bill of $6427

HOLY SHIET!!!! Ben pass the raman noodles.
