Guys, I realize you are planning your own event and do not want to step on anyone's toes and especially do not want to alienate a whole community.

Legal bill---You may not remember me but I met you at FC03 and you took me around the autocross course and gave me some pointers. I remember you finished second only a split second behind a stripped race prepped S2000 and if I remember correctly I finished 7th. I was in the white S2000. I then ran into you again when you were in the caravan returning home. We linked up on Int. 78, stopped for gas, then you guys continued on 22 and I peeled off because I was home. I took your advice at the time about buying a Saner front swaybar. I still have it on the car and have turned into a track junkie with your inspiration.

Chazmo---I remember our track day on Monday and dinner afterwards. Car number 5 is alive. You're right I'm not as connected as Rick is to the community but I have posted on the FC thread which hopefully clears this up.

Bass----You're right............................................. ...you're not a good diplomat. I don't take offense to what you said and am not going to start an argument with you. I'd like to know you. Please get to know me first................then you can tell me to %/@#*&.

As I mentioned in the FC thread I will move the event around. Unfortunately, Lime Rock will require an aftermarket rollbar and broomstick test for ANY convertible to go on the track. Even then you have to run with the top UP or wear arm restraints when on the track. This would severely limit the amount of participants so I think Lime Rock is out. NHIS is a nice track that I hope to race on someday. This track may be too far north to attract the MD, VA, WVA, OH communities and would not be ideal.

Speaking for myself I would have liked the event to be at Pocono because it is close to me and Bill is right on the money when he says it is easier to organize an event locally but they didn't have any open dates this year.

I think realistically the closest event to the NE area would be Watkins Glen, unless I am unaware of another track. I am open to any suggestions if you have them. Watkins Glen would be nice, it is the most expensive track however at $7000 a day with a 2 day minimum. I will keep this option open and as I mentioned in the FC thread am aiming to make a profit so we have some of the deposit money for an expensive track like this for 06.

I wish you the best of luck with your event and second Paulie's statement that the Del Val will come to support anything you put together. I personally have 2 track events planned for August but if there isn't a conflict with dates you can count on me being there. I have but one request, two actually:

1) Can you please plan your event away from Fall Colors so we don't cause people to choose, draw lines, and divide the community.

2) Can I coerce a decent number of the New Englanders to attend FC05? I know you have a LONG drive but you won't be disappointed!

Thanks for listening,

John Oldt

John,

I wish you the best of luck with FC05. By the way, #5 is definitely still alive, and still has his number (thanks!)!

I hope the planning doesn't become overly burdensome for FC05, John, though I'm sure folks will have a humungous blast at BeaveRun, just like we did last year. You might have to keep Skip from racing with Keith's 360, though!

As for the New England folks' attendance at the event; it is a pretty hefty haul to get down there. We had a handful of folks from NE last year, and I hope a few more of us make the journey this year.

Best of luck. -- Charlie

I agree that Rick's ambivalent action over the past week or two was mis-leading...and unfortunate. I'm not sure he even realized that y'all were working on an emergency FC 'bail-out' plan Rick would never madden people on purpose....

I also know John O and he'll focus on the planning like a laser....a very detailed guy. He's been involved on a lot of the Del Val events over the past 1-2 years and led a neat scenic drive last summer

Legal Bill's idea is correct....that this major event needs to ROTATE between several East Coast locations. Pittsburgh is even a 7-8 hour hike for me

Ok, having thought about this more, and having read all the posts, I think the New England committee should reconvene and discuss this off line. I have a B'day party on Saturday fron 2 to 4 so I don't know if I'll make it to the tech day, but I'll try.

Hi John,

We must of met also at FC'03. I was doing the timing lights that day

Well, we're still in the planning stages for the New England event, and now we're not 100% sure what we plan on doing next. But scheduling our event will be a few weeks/months before the FC'05 event.

I'm on the edge of going to FC'05, but I'm sure there will be a few guys that will be going. After driving to the Dragon a half dozen times... 10 hours isn't much. But it still is a LONG DRIVE.

Thanks John for commenting here in the New England Forum
