Default FC 05 and beyond...

In light of Rick stepping down as organizer of FC, some of us in Vintage have been talking about ways to keep the event alive. My thought was to make it a yearly event that a different region hosts every year. This way, no one group or region has to deal with the undertaking every year, but every region gets the honor of hosting it every so often. If no one else steps up, I think New England should take the lead and organize the event for 05. We have already organized group drives and parties. This would be the next step. I could see us using some of the roads in Western Mass for the drive. I can envision some awesome tech demos with the talented group we have. There may be some way to include track time at NHIS, or at least an autocross in their parking lot...

What do you guys think?

Hear, hear!!! We definitely have the talent and what a thrill it'd be for the folks down south to come up here for foliage!

We could also consider down-sizing the event, though I don't want to necessarily suggest that. FC04 had 160 cars or so.

I think this is a great idea but I think we're going to have to still keep it more south. I doubt you'll get people to drive all the way to NH for a track day from PA, WV or further south.
I think keeping it in PA, NJ, DC area might be best even lower CT, only because otherwise it will only be the Metro NYC groups and us... no that, that's a bad thing but it would be nice to keep it going as a large group.

Those are just my .02

John, I think you're underestimating the will of the S owners to drive to the event. I think central NY would be a draw... Just my .02 as well...

Maybe but keep in mind I don't think anyone from the NE group went last year to western PA... maybe one or two but nothing like how many go when the event is closer. I wasn't about to drive my S, 11 hours to western PA and I doubt (I could be wrong) we'll get as many cars to come if we have the event in western, MA / lower VT and NH. Its just a long drive. I would think those guys further south would just end up having their own event...

I think that's a good point, John, but OK... If the point is for us (the New England crew) to organize it, it would be foolish to try to host it out of our region.

OK, so what am I saying??? Basically, if we do an event, let's have it here so we can really organize it properly. There'd probably be lower participation than previous events, but at least everyone would be invited. We might have more participation from our northern friends, but who knows...

I totally understand and you make a good point maybe we can get some guy/girls from CA to come down for the event...hummm... that would be different.

Ok so lets say we have it up here?
We could use the Mohawk and surrounding area for the drives. But now how about sleeping accommodations. Are there good spots for this along the way.?.

Fewer attendees from the further south and west may not be a bad thing. I don't think we want over 100 cars anyway. Something between 60-75 would be ideal. Besides, maybe them Canadians ( ) can join us in an event for a change. There are quite a few Montreal folks...

Speaking of Montreal, hmm...

We can do F1 but at that time with 50+ S2000s would be totally nuts. Especially in Montreal. Wouldn't it be nuts to take up Cresent street with all S2000s!!! Although I hope no cars would get trashed

I would be glad to use the Mohawk run as a FC event for NE. It is a beautiful fall drive to boot. Maybe some folks can take other drives/events to make it a full weekend? Lets see we have the Mohawk in West Ma, GMT in VT, Cape run @ the cape, Newport in RI. All we would need is to throw in a Tech Day at a sponsored garage and toss in a Car show and if we are truely lucky get a day at Lime Rock or something. Ok I am dreaming now.

So who wants to start the Fall Colors @ NE committee!

Chairman - ?
Vice Chairman - ?
Secretary - ?
Commications - ?
Treasurer - ?
