While this is quite silly... I think the two jets that flew into the WTC had more to do with instilling fear into hearts and minds than Bush. Terrorist groups are waiting for us to become complacent enough to allow them to strike again. Every call must be handled seriously to protect ourselves from another attack.
On the surface, I am sure this seems like an innocent prank taken too seriously. However the day we forget that there are people who consider us to be the enemy and are bent on killing us, we might as well give up life as we know it. Everything in this country is not a simple matter of democrat vs. republican.
Think of this on the flip side... If items like this were dismissed as pranks without thorough investigation and precaution, and then exploded, killing people, someone would blame everyone from the first responders all the way up to Bush himself for the blunder.
Also consider this when you ask why it is being so seriously taken by the governor and mayor... While valuable resources were expended investigating these pranks, their services were not available elsewhere. Although our govt. has done an outstanding job of making the response to and interception of terrorist activities on a daily basis transparent... We live in a different world than 09/10/2001.
Just my take and some food for thought.

Now why would any legit company not get permission to place ads in any location. Nevermind public places like on bridges.
Turner has some explaining to do. The fact that the other 9 cities did not panic like Boston has nothing to do with it.
I am surprised that a legit operation would not go through the steps of getting permission from the property owners first, what were they thinking?
If they would have gotten permission then this would not have been an issue.

You got all these things planted around the city, some on bridges, they look like a simple light board and controller, but no one is sure where they were from or why. The response was appropriate and expected in our current social/political climate.

As funny as it might seem , I am glad Boston is on top of things I think New England law enforcement are doing what they do best Protect and Serve
Did the other cities all use the same device ?? I thought they hired a local artist , I wasn't totally paying attention when it was on the news .
I am with Jeff , The terrorist did what they do best . Installed fear into everyone minds.
