Default Dyno Shop

I spent Monday with my EP S2000 doing tuning on the dyno at Xenocron in Hillburn, NY. I know NY is not New England, but for those in CT Hillburn is near the intersection of I-87 and I-287 and is an easy trip. I am building an EP car for SCCA regional and national racing. I installed a Haltech Pro Plug-in ECU (also purchased from Xenocron) and it had to be tuned to work best with the modifications made. Xenocron is a small shop, but they did a great job and we got 230 max HP at the wheels. Chris Harris there has an S2000 and knows the cars well. I have had other cars on dynos in CT, but the Xenocron set up was the best set up that i have been to. Joe

230 at the wheels without forced induction?
Is that possible?

Id think an AP2 could make that with a complete high end bolt on package. T1r Exhaust, PWJDM intake, Header and a tuner.

Every dyno is going to give different numbers. I did not take the time to do before modification testing. As a comparison, Chris' AP1 with a Haltech ECU had 217 max hp on this dyno. He later put an AP2 motor in the car and had 252 HP max. Attached is the dyno chart from a couple of my runs. Unfortunately there was a misfire on each of these plots, so they don't look nice and clean. Also, the left vertical axis is labeled as Flywheel Power, but this is a chassis dyno and I was assured it was Wheel Power (HP). Joe

With AFRs like that I rather pass .. Leaning out the car is not the right way to make power in the S2000.Having said that .. the numbers are possible NA .. we have had alot of the same results

What type of Dyno? what is the correction factor? what is the smoothing factor? your dynosheet is very uninformative, Typical of Dyno Dynamics Dyno's

You have a plot with the TQ curve on it ???? that is where the most is to be gained, as much as 20ftlbs down low

Yes, it is a Dyno Dynamics dyno. I did not keep track of the correction and smoothing factors. Chris may have them in my file. I am comfortable with the AFRs. We tuned using 93 octane, but I will be using race gas. We programed in corrections for high IATs, and coolant temps, too.

Attached is a graph with torque, but this was from earlier runs, before tuning was completed. Yes, I should have asked for more graphs, but Chris has them if I want them.

I looked at my notes and the max torque was 158 ft-lbs at 6000 rpm, on the same run with max HP. .
