Default DVD player

We need an inexpensive DVD player for our TV room. No DVR, no bells and whistles, no BluRay, or whatever that is called.

Just a DVD player for the grandkids to watch their "stuff" and an occasional movie for us.

We are still just extended cable people, no digital, so you can see how much TV watching means. Just the basics is fine.

So, Target has this one on sale...DVD player is it just too cheap?

One thing I do like to have is an option for full screen/wide screen if it's available.

Suggestions?

Some reviews call it junk!

If you are not getting blu ray, spend as little as possible.

I would recommend picking up a used PS2. It plays movies fine and grand kids can play games.

i'm gonna get one of these

http://www.amazon.com/Philips-DVP5992-1080...r/dp/B001AXBGZO

they go on sale all the time for $30.00 - what i like about it is that you can plug a thumb drive into it so no need to use DVDs

And that is better why? For downloaded movies/use the thumb drive?

We're not real gadget people as far as this stuff goes...

Actually kinda clueless.
