Connecticut has long been known for its pride in workmanship. This tradition is continued by the winemaking families of the Connecticut Wine Trail. Come enjoy the varied styles of wine, exciting views and warm hospitality offered by these vineyards
You are invited to discover some of Connecticut's agricultural bounty: its beautiful vineyards and fine wines. This drive will take you through some of Connecticut's most scenic and historic towns. Where you'll drive the S2000 to Stonington on the Connecticut coast, where life intermingles with the rich history of these early seaport towns to scenic Colchester and Promfret, historic villages of great beauty.

WHEN: Sunday, June 6, 2010 @ 10:30 am
WHERE: Meet at the commuter lot off exit 91 on I-95 in Stonington at 10:30am. Leave by 11am driving to the Stonington Vineyards

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRIVE:
This trip through the wine country of Connecticut will start from the southern part of the Trail in Stonington and end in the northern part of the Trail in Promfret. We will all meet half-way at Priam Vineyards for a box lunch.
Itinerary: Drive 1 Participants Stonington Vineyards in Stonington and take a break see the sights.
Stonington Vineyards was established by Nick and Happy Smith in 1987, when purchasing 58 acres in the Stonington Uplands on which wine grapes had been planted earlier in the decade.

Established in 1998, Priam Vineyards is located in the historic town of Colchester. The 27 acre vineyard has six varieties of grapes in production, with a breathtaking 35 mile view of the New England countryside.

RIDE HOME (saved the best for last)
A 32 mile drive down rt169 from Lisbon through Woodstock, gives you a glimpse of what life was like for Yankee farmers. Gentle rolling fields covered with corn stalks and apple orchards stretch as far as the eye can see. Designated a National Scenic Byway in 1996 and was voted one of the top 10 scenic roads in the country by scenic America.
