Thumbs down Dining while attending the GMT INFO HERE!

I've assisted Ellen (truth be told she did most of the work ) with plans for the Saturday night dinner during the GMT (Green Mountain Tour).

On the Saturday evening, there will be a buffet banquet at the hotel. While some may not care for the banquet idea, it IS the easiest way to feed a larger group. The cost is $30.00/person.

The buffet will have a chicken dish, Garlic Rosemary Crusted Pork Loin, and Boston Crumb Baked Scrod as the main dishes. There will also be a salad, vegetables and potato, as well as cheesecake with strawberries for dessert.

Payment is required in advance.

If you are interested in attending, here is the info regarding payment:

Send a check for $30 per person to: Ellen Emerson, Vermont Web Programmers, 63 Maple Street Ste 9W, Middlebury, VT 05753.

Money is refundable up to 7 days before the event if you need to cancel. Payment MUST be received no later than 7 days before the event if you wish to attend.

For dinner on Friday, Ellen made a reservation at a local pizza place. Info here:
Friday Pizza

Ellen will link this info in the main thread.

Please post interest for Saturday dinner here. I'll try to keep track of you here. REMINDER: Ellen needs an accurate head count AND $$$ no later than 9/10/07. I'll add folks to the list when they post here, or when Ellen lets me know that payment has been received.

Dinner attendees:

Ellen/Tadaschi & Joe
Lainey8484 & Rick paid
Cinderspike/Don & Linda + 1 paid
SSSnakesSS/Bob & Connie paid
boltonblue +1 paid
Tea-Man +1 (Pat & Carol) paid

Also I love Italian food. So that sounds great as well.

I wouldn't think so, Jerry. Send money and you're in.

for food.

I am trying to give Ellen a hand and I've been working on a reservation for a small group to dine on the Friday at a local Italian place, but I've been playing phone tag with the guy for a while.

I doubt that they can accommodate more than 15-20 people and still allow folks to order off of the menu. Trying to accommodate everyone at the same place just doesn't work out. If the restaurant sounds interesting to more than a few, perhaps someone else could make an additional reservation for an earlier time if others want to join in? If I ever stop playing phone tag with the guy. I've got dibs on 7:00 PM.

This is where I am hoping we end up. Junior's Disclaimer: I've never been there, I'm hoping it's good food. The menu just sounded varied enough for people to find something they like. If it's lousy, I take no blame.

If any of you VT locals have suggestions for Friday night dinner, throw them out there. It's good to give folks a few choices and that way Ellen won't have 35 + people asking "Where should we go for dinner?"

If I do end up making a reservation, it will be first come first served for a seat at the 7:00 PM dinner. I'll start a list when it gets closer.

Can you call them and see how many they can accommodate on the Friday? I don't expect any one place to be able to serve all of us.

Or post their number and I'll give them a shout. I've still not heard back from the Italian place.

something to keep in mind as well.
Burlington is a college town. school will have been in session ~2 weeks when we show up. Friday nights will be very busy, especially in the downtown area.

Yes, there will be alot of college students around! You do not have to stay at the hotel to have group dinenr Saturday - I just need the money because right now there is a $1500 "hold" on my personal Visa card

Next weekend I am going to take a drive to the hotel, get some pictures and then personally scope out some restaurants in the area. There are alot within minutes of the hotel and we'll get a list together for people to choose from. I'm going to try and make sure to have local maps for everyone too.
