Always remember that you're buying a network, not just a phone. The 800 MHz Cellular carriers have been around the longest in CT, and accordingly have the most well developed networks (e.g.: have the most cell sites in their network). Verizon seems to have kept up pretty well in CT, from my own personal experience. Cingular is the other 800 MHz Cellular carrier, but from this thread seems as it might have some current issues with their network in CT.

Nextel is newer to the market as an 800 MHz SMR carrier, compared to the two 800 MHz Cellular carriers, so naturally their network is not as well developed (not nearly as many cell sites). They also specialize in a two-way radio feature -- which is their real forte.

The other, even newer, carriers are 1900 MHz PCS. Accordingly, their networks require a whole lot more cell sites (due to immutable laws of physics), so they are the least developed by comparison.

Try to get a demo to see if the particular carrier's phone works where you need it to work! If that carrier has cell sites where you need them, then you can safely buy service from them. Networks develop differently from carrier to carrier, so you really need to try before you buy (or be ready to cancel quickly if you are not satisfied). Just because a particular carrier is good for one person, does not mean they will be good for you. Also, competition is good.

i have AT&T myself and i have had great luck with it I used to have verizon and i canceled half way through the plan cause there customer serves sucks in my opinion, and to my that means a lot
