September is a beautiful month in this area. Usually blue skies, low humidity and nice temps. My favorite month of the year. Keep in mind our weather changes just about every minute. Bring extra clothing.

try priceline for a place in the city. There really aren't hotels that cheap in Boston that I know of. I think the Amerisuites in Medford can be had for less than $100 a night (maybe with a AAA discount or something. It's not really all that public transportation accessable though. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure she is going to this: http://www.bostongiftshow.com/
Whatever that is.
Anyway hanahime, there are not too many hotels near the convention center. It is located in the so-called Sea Port district which is really just a section of South Boston that has seen a lot of development over the past 10 years. There are not many hotels near the center and the one or two that are there are quite pricey. I'm not sure which T line to take out there. Maybe the Silver line. I would stay in the Back-Bay or South End (not the same as South Boston). There are some smaller hotels and some B and Bs in those two areas that are less expensive. Lots to see and do in these two areas if you like history.
The best shopping and night life is probably in the Newbery Street area of the Back Bay. Fanueil Hall is a fun tourist area with lots of shopping and many clubs and bars near by. Check out the North End for the best Italian food. China town for authentic Chinese food.
Kenmore Square and the Fenway park area also have some nigh clubs that you might want to check out. It depends on what kind of music/night club scene you like. Around Fenway you can find everything from Sports Bars to pool hall bars to trendy pick-up disco bars.
Try looking at www.boston.com for more doings, live music and night life.
