I have a '94 Integra and a '00 S2000. I have two defective clutch disks down in my basement. Needless to say, I'm underwhelmed by Honda build quality.

Defective or abused?

Like I said before, I know there are those who have had rear diff failures. If you look closer though, you find out that those folks were trying to drag race or launching at auto-x etc...

Kind of like if a guy does burn outs every day and then complains that his tires must be garbage quality because they are now bald.

The S2000 rattled and buzzed like an #$^^ing Yugo when decelerationg. Honda had issued a TSB on the defective disks, but the problem didn't manifest until 35k miles; unfortunately the car was 5 years old by then. I replaced the disk only; everything else was good.

A spring fell out of the center of the clutch disk in the Integra. I guess it could have been caused by driver error, but I don't remember doing anything stupid. The rest of the clutch parts were still good... If I hadn't already purchased the clutch kit before taking the car apart, I would have replaced only the disk. Everything else still looked that good.

Things always tend to break right after the waranty period is over

Murphy's law I guess

I think Exedy makes all of Honda's clutch parts. They are a decent company from what I have read.

The diff failures were not all due to hard launching. A couple of the ladies of Vintage had issues with the diffs on their vehicles. One was an 01, and the other an 04 I think...

I don't think either of these women are into launching their S.

Every car has issues. Otherwise there would be no need for TSBs and Warranty claims.

In all fairness, the Integra has been rock-solid for 165k miles, except for the premature clutch failure. I spend about the equivalent of one car payment a year on parts: clutch, radiator, pads and rotors, distributor, tires, etc. over the last 5 or 6 years.

And the '00 S2000 is the first model year; I knew better but wanted it badly.

Nope, Deb, Ms. Perky had her dif fail on her way to a Vintage gathering. Patty/kyras, (you met her) had some issue with her diff too.

I'm sure neither lady is afraid of a little speed, but somehow, I don't see them launching their S2000's.

I find the above mentioned clutch issue hilarious! A simple disc exchange and its fixed. Why dont you all go back up a little and read the MULTIPLE issues I have had with the stratus and the junk yarded ford taurus.

The measley little clutch problem on the honda does not even come close to that! And for what it worth my clutch buzzes also I have an 01 you know what I say whoopie BFD its buzzes. Runs fine just buzzes so I dont consider that an issue. As far as the diff in stock form with the car being driven normal there should be no issues. Not saying there has not been though. It was sourced from mazda and is known as the weak link in the driveline.

regardless of what everyone thinks the quality is there and it far surpasses anything coming from any American manufacturers. There is no debate there.
