Rotten luck with no car for the holiday weekend, but I could have been a lot further from home when it went bad.

Ok, so now that I will be installing a new Mishimoto radiator, the task of cleaning all the coolant that spayed onto the engine block and everywhere else is at hand.

I have used GUNK engine cleaner in the past, and had weeks of oils smell coming off of my hot engines. Trying to avoid that, I thought I was ask everyone what they would use in a case like this?

The coolant sprayed just about everywhere. I was thinking some simple green in water and a small brush to all parts and a quick rinse with the hose?

Thansk

Purple power mixed 50/50 . You can get it at Advanced auto. I stay away from degreasers as they tend to stain. With the PP you spray it on and rinse it off.

Just wanted to update everyone on the outcome of this link. The new Mishimoto Xline radiator was installed today. Took the car straight home to detail the engine with Purple Power and some Gunk Shine - worked great. Wash and detail a little, then a quick blast around town. Believe it or not, seems to run better with the new radiator - or is it just cause I love the look of the welded aluminum shine under the hood? It does run a click cooler on the temp gauge, so am very happy about that. This radiator will also handle any future mods with no problems.

So, fell in love with the car all over again after missing it on the holiday weekend!

Just FYI, I saw you'd mentioned Simple Green... I recommend against using it when there's aluminum present, as it can be quite corrosive to it. I'm sure if you spray it on and hose it off fairly quickly, it wouldn't be too bad, but there is a LOT of documented evidence against using Simple Green on aluminum, so I'd caution against it with a car that has a decent bit of aluminum parts. It became enough of an issue that the Navy issued a statement about it a few years back to be careful where you use it (particularly with their aircraft)

As a result, Simple Green now makes an "Extreme" Aircraft version for such a use, but I don't know what it costs.

I've seen radiators fail at similar age and mileage on other Japanese cars. I wouldn't consider it an odd-ball thing. BTW, if you're on a tight budget, rockauto.com has new aftermarket radiators for $122 and car-part.com has used ones starting at $55.
