Perhaps...We are required to pay three days, but only three. If you get stuck on a longer trial, they "encourage" employers to pay.
Yeah, 3 days automatically, then the court pays your per diem which is like $25 a day. I was on a 5 day trial a couple years ago (quite interesting to be part of a real trial as opposed to the stuff theuy show on Law N Order, etc.) Anyway, I turned in the paperwork and got my regular pay but had to turn over the stipend to the state.

at the moment my only benefit is the freedom to do what I want when i want.
the pay sucks though.

it sucks to get jury duty when your on unemployment.
you give up the unemployment to get the $25 a day.

I need a state or federal job.....those are the best, and are about the only ones that have an actual pension plan at retirement. I'd bet many cities, towns, etc, will start to review those 80% pensions at retirements, they just can't afford it anymore.
Wish I fell into the 80% too, but our plan dosn't allow it.
Basically ours is 50% for 25 yrs, no age limit.....If you are 62 with 30 yrs you get 60%.....I've seen some people start at 18, do 40+ years, retire before 62 and get 50%.
Another bad thing for us...no raises in over 3 yrs....and things don't look too good for NY now. OH well.
