Default Anyone know something about leather seats?

I am going to order some new seat covers.

They offer the option to make the centers perforated like the OEM seat is. I am wondering if this has any real purpose or mostly aesthetic? Personally, I think the leather not perforated will look better, but if there is a good reason for it I will get it perforated.

What do you guys think? Even you Doug

i'm guessing it's for airflow since leather by itself doesn't breathe.

Oh the fun I could have with that......

Honestly, I believe the perforation allows for more breathing or airflow between your bottom and back and the leather itself. The tiny perforations reduce the total amount of leather surface you are actually stuck to.

I think the perforations also look very nice, but can be more of a pain when cleaning/conditioning the seats, as I know I need to sometimes go get a toothpick to clean the white conditioner out of the holes...

Hmm, thinking about how much a tend to fart, it may be a good idea to get the perforation. Then again, if I DON'T get the perforation, the fart can't enter the cushion and linger as bad

And because I know Jeff is so into tracking his car I'll add this...

Keep in mind my overall stance on leather seats is they suck. I flat out hate my S2000 seats. I think this is one of the areas Honda really dropped the ball on the S2000.

The Civic Type-R received far superior seats as far as I'm concerned. The super durable fake suede like they use in the S2000 CR, and then cloth center panels so you are not always sliding around, and of course, the perfect thing, the upper belt hole for a 6-point harness to go through. The damn S2000 seats cannot be used with a 6-point harness because f the back shape, stupid Honda...

AWESOME!

I had considered going with a suede center, but I saw a few pics and it looks booty IMO.

I am considering having a nice "H" emblem emboidered into the backrest. Nothing too big, just enough though.

I am going with a dark brown burnt orange color so I will probably do the H in charcoal color.

Alcantara FTW! My brother has them in his si hb, however the side bolster aren't nearly as nice as the ones in the pic. They really do grip though and I can see why the centers in the CR seats were changed to not be all-leather. Maybe that would be an interesting mod to get alcantara center replacements. Oh, and combined with the grip, in black they are great for showing off things such as dandruff and cat hair
