A friend of mine wants to tint his TLs, but afraid to run into lousy shops. Anybody know any that you would recommend? Thanks

"Tint King" in Billerica!!

They are about 30 minutes from Cambridge (close to Burlington), but it really is worth driving there. They use a computer to cut the each panel of the windows (so that there is no mistake). I used them for my BMW 740IL (and a lot of my friends who have S4s, M3s, M5s and etc.). They are very patient and professional.

They are highly recommended by Audi/VW and BMW folks in Boston area, too (pics).

If you think that Tint King is too far, I also heard that Sonny's in Saugus is a very good place to go.

If I remember correctly, they charged around $200 for a sedan. What I remember is that their prices are relatively lower than others since they don't waste their time on cutting (your friend should tell them that you were referred by Boston Audi club and Yong with the black 7 series) -much faster process than other places. They are very friendly!! You may want to call and make sure..

$200????

Holy crap!!!!!!

Man, I just came back from a local place and he gave me the price of $60 fr the two sides. I have seen his work and it is great, plus it's lifetime warrantied. Computer cutting is all well and good, but if it looks the same and is warrantied, is it worth over $100 more? I wouldn't be worried how the guy cuts the tint. If it's not straight, have him do it over. I have yet to see a crooked tint job.

Unless thats for a whole 4 door car, then its not a bad price. I just thought o that. I was assuming it was for an S2000, not a TL. Silly me....

I only paid $35 for both left/right windows in my S2k. The shop is just down the street.

The rear window (MY2002) cost another $35 but I must warn everyone (S2K owners, i.e) of two issues with getting it tinted:

1- The tint will get scratched (just like the old plastic rear windows) when you put the top down, so you'd need to cover the rear deck with something soft (Muzz sells something for this, right?).

2- This is a personal preference issue cause my eyes are a bit more sensitive to glare, but still.... With the tint (I have the street legal shade) and the rear view mirror set to nighttime driving position, I find that it gets too dark to see anything in the mirror - just very faint lights. If I don't use the nighttime setting then the tint itself does not help in reducing the glare. Every time I drive my wife's accord at night (that does not have a tint, yet) I realize what I'm misssing.

TLs' got a big ess rear windshield and a pita to work on...so $200 is a pretty sweet deal. I gave all your info to my friend. Thanks everyone.
