2nd Gear grind at lower RPM's
I recall years ago a few owners posting about 2nd gear grind at high rpm's when shifting rapidly when the engine was extremely warm. My MY01 has 39k miles on her and I experienced substantial grind while shifting into 2nd at about 6k rpm at least 4 times in a 300 mile period while on a trip to Lancaster, N.H. this weekend. At least one time I recall getting some substancial grind while shifting quite slowly.
Anyone else still experiencing this problem? My car won't be 3 years old till January. Am I still covered for this on my drivetrain warranty?

Mine likes to grind once in a blue moon for no apparent reason and it's most likely to do this when I'm taking it easy.
I agree with the suggestion of new MTF, if you haven't already changed it.

I changed my MTF and it did not help. Mine will grind when I shift rapidly at 6,000+ rpm I must have the clutch all the way to the floor before I even begin the shift or else it will grind.

I recommend Redline MTL
I had Redline and switched back to Honda's last month to see if there was a difference , now my grind is back .I will be switching back to Redline very soon.

Thanks for the tip Scott. I'm very worried about my second gear and the second gear synchros wearing out prematurely. Did the Redline eliminate the grind? I have a habit of "short stepping" the clutch when I drive. I know how far to depress it to disengage and I do it by second nature so I don't push the clutch pedal all the way down unless I am really thinking of it. Funny thing is, all my other gears are quiet with me shifting the same way. It is just second gear.

I changed it last year with Honda'sMTF. I think I might try Royal Purple this time. My son tried it in his GSX and it made a world of difference.

Bill , I have no grind if I shift properly. You will notice the whole range of gears will be smoother . I notice the difference the first morning that I wasn't running the Redline anymore.

My 02 was fine for the first 5000 miles or so, then the grind appeared and kept getting worst. I tried changing MTF (thanks to Steve) but it made no differnce.
After the clutch work, the grind seems to have gone away but but I occasionally get a really bad (metal/metal) feeling as I'm shifting that tells me something's wrong. I'm still not happy with how it shifts. In fact, it sucks really bad some days. It seems to be better on rainy days - ironic.
Bad design, imo, can't do anything about it...
