Default Ticket on the Beltway

So I get on the beltway yesterday at Charleston and as soon as I get up enough speed to merge into traffic I've got an NHP motorcycle on my tail with lights flashing. (btw... I was driving my daughter's Civic!) The guy writes me a ticket for doing 60 in a 55... $190!!!!

There were four of them out there, just on the southbound side alone, and they were pulling over everything in sight. I figure I got picked since I had California plates, but I'm quite sure they wouldn't be able to resist an S2000.

Be careful out there. Apparently, they're using the 45mph zones to really nail people too.

Nothing holy about it. any local advice in beating it would be appreciated. I don't plan to just roll over.

call them, then go see them. no points, no court appearances, just a 'handling' fee. done and done.

Apparently, the local traffic attorneys are good at getting those things beat down. One or two of the guys have used them before, maybe they have a recommendation.

I still don't see how the hell you can justify a $190 ticket for going 5 mph over. Especially in a state with hookers and gambling being a way of life.

yeah, my wife just got a ticket a week ago. if she pays it before her court date, all she has to pay is $90 instead of $190. maybe we should all get together and go look for the cops who just parked waiting for people speeding, and write them tickets with paper and crayon's yelling citizen's arrest!!! Then we can give them a fine of $300 and put it in a fund for our S's!

Paying the ticket is an admission of guilt though, I'd never do that.
