Default Regarding tire size..

ray, karim and i were talking about tires last night, and pretty soon i will be ditching the Sonars , so i was looking at Falkens.

now during my search, i found that the Beta 451s come in 245/45/16 and for the front 225/50/16

now since our stockers are 55 in the front and 50 in the rear should the falken set up be ok with the shorter sidewalls? or should i look at another tire?

You'd be fine with those sizes. There are a few things you need to pay attention to and that's overall tire diameter front and rear (how close are they to each other, the closer the better) and how close is that diameter to stock in order to maintain speedo and odometer calibration.

I run 225/50 and 245/45 for my track tires; there's no problem with those sizes on stock rims. What you will have to be conscious of though is the fact that you're biasing the car towards oversteer by adding more tire up front than stock (205s). A stiffer front swaybar will deal with that very nicely and you'll benefit from increased front grip.

Questions? Ask away.

I'm curious to why you'd want to run those sizes? Unless you plan to run a larger front sway bar or like the car really loose the front size isn't the best idea.

The correct tire size for non s02 tires is 205/55/16 for the front and 245/45/16 for the rears. Ref here to see why the correct rear size is 245: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48572

The Beta 451s come in both of those sizes. 78 for the fronts and 110 for the rears. Ref here http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/f...r%2FPerformance

hey i just got the falken fk 451 tires your talking about what a coincidence. I've owned so2's, s03's, re-01s and others, and i think these are identical in quality and performance compared to the s03's and s02's at a much lower price. i went w/ 225/50/16 and 245/45/16 just like you mentioned and it feels great. i do a lot of freeway driving and i like the added stability in the front.
