My trip to Vegas
Here is what I did:
Arrived Wed. night at the master suite at THE hotel Mandalay bay and met up with friends from NYPD and FBI agents from the Organized Crime Task Force in Las Vegas. Some of you may have heard about the Bob Arum bust for fixing boxing matches...well that was what we were celebrating.
Here is where we went throughout the weekend:
Wed night: Dinner at Smith and Lowenskys and then a private table at club Tangerine.
Thursday: Private air conditioned Cabana at the Venus Pool at Caesars, dinner at Conrads in the Flamingo with 4 bottles of Far Niente Cab, and then off to a private table at club Tabu. I forget what hotel that was in...too much drinky drinky then over to New York New York, hehe NYPD get it??
Friday: Back to the Cabana at the Venus Pool, dinner at Charley Palmers at the four seasons, and then all night dancing at the Mandalay Bay Foundation Room courtesy of the FBI's membership. WOW!! What an amazing place the Foundation Room is, I will NEVER forget that. From there is was off to Drais for some more out of control action.
Saturday: Hung out at the Venus Pool and went to Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville. Dinner was at Mone Mie at the Paris and from there we went to this sweet club at the Hard Rock hotel. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it though...again drinky drinky. Ashton Kutcher was there back in the private table area where we were. He keeps a low profile!!
Sunday: Spent most of the day feeling like a train wreck trying to recover before the flight home. I must say, no one knows how to party like the boys from NYPD's finest and the FBI. It was the trip of a lifetime and I know that no trip will ever compare to this one.
My S2k sighting: Saw a MY04 NF red at night on the road that runs perpendicular to Las Vegas Boulevard towards Mandalay Bay. It was a bigger guy with a shaved head and was making a phone call on his cell. It was at night.
NEED SLEEP!!!!

I was thinking the same thing. I've been to Vegas a few times and I know I make more money than the average cop or FBI agent for that matter and I can't party like that without getting lucky at the craps table.

Wait at what point did I say NYPD OR FBI paid for anything? They have a membership to the Foundation Room from a prior investigation but when did I say they paid for anything else? Lets try not making false generalizations. After busting up a large organized crime ring and after giving up two weeks of their lives every month for two years to do the undercover work, I think they earned a vacation. Before you go bashing the officers I was with make sure to actually try educating yourself on the work it involves to take down some of these criminals. My good friend was shot in the spine two years ago during an undercover drug bust and he is alive today and he had a blast as well in Vegas.
BTW, most dinners and clubbing were comp'd by Nevada Stupak. His dad would be Bob Stupak...that guy who owns the Stratosphere. It helps to know people in town.

See, when you get all defensive like that then it makes me think even harder about it. At what point did I make "false generalizations?" I asked a question, perhaps sarcastically, but you decided to read me the riot act.
I'm truly sorry about your friend and am glad he's alive and well. As far as them giving up every day of their lives for two weeks every month...tough shit, that's what they signed up for and get paid to do. I have many friends that are retired police officers in NY and elsewhere and they don't feel some form of entitlement for doing the job they were paid to do. I guess that it's just a sign of the times these days.

All I am saying is that whether they feel entitled or not, they deserve our thanks. Be it in the form of a medal or a trip to Vegas. Again, I NEVER said that they felt entitled to anything. They spent their own money and really the only reward they got for a job well done was three days off from work. I feel that they should be entitled to rewards. I get defensive when sarcastic comments are made about good friends of mine by the guy who watches our conversations so I hope you keep thinking real hard about it. And I personally would rather have my taxes go to sending cops to Vegas to gamble over paying for illegal immigrants to reside here in California.
