Have a question for reno folks
I'm taking a trip to Reno this week and i will be staying at the Peppermill hotel/casino.
I just wanted to know some good popular places to eat food at? Not fast food or things like that but more like mom and pop/small restaurants that only locals will know it's good.
food can be anything:chinese, mexican, italian, pizza, burgers, BBQ
Thanks

Pho 777 in downtown is pretty good.
La Famiglia Ristorante really good Italian. Downtown Reno
BJ BBQ in sparks is the only BBQ place I can think of.
I think the best hamburger/cheeseburger is awful awful downtown Reno at the little nugget.
if you wanna go clubbin there is EDGE inside the peppermill. you can hang out with Richard and get your swerve on.

if you want breakfast food "pegs-glorified ham and eggs" on Sierra street in downtown is great. I always order the Juevos Rancheros for 9 bucks and its more than enough.
There is also the "Squeeze In" on North Mccarren and 7th street, it was featured on the Food Network a month or two ago as another hole in the wall breakfast joint.
Im a big sandwich eater and really like "My Favorite Muffin" on California street,....a few blocks from downtown off Virginia Street.......they are also your one stop shop for muffins and bagels.
As Inline976 said above the "Awful Awful" burger inside the Little Nugget downtown (across from Harrahs Casino)...is a real "hole in the wall" place. It is a little dirty looking but they were also featured on the Food Network too for that burger. You can google it and see it.

Yes, get the Awful Awful at the downtown Little Nugget....best burger you will ever have..and cheap too. You get a huge 1/2 pound succulent mouth watering burger cooked to fricken perfection packed on top of a huge basket of fries. Most of the time, I don't see people finishing the entire meal.
For sushi (btw Reno seems to be the 'all u can eat sushi' capital of the world since every other place offers it) the most popular place that comes to mind is Sushi Pier 2 on south Virginia street. My favorite places are Kokopellis inside the circus circus or Hiroba sushi on skyline blvd.
