Anyone here ever went to court?
Hey everyone , just moved to vegas not too long ago and one thing i noticed is cops here like following me for some reason, as if waiting to catch me on something.. This has happened to me about 3 times now.. (I'll admit my car is not exactly quiet- which is probably why i'll be selling it soon)
Anyways, I just got a speeding ticket last week and I was planning on fighting it in court (knowing there was a police officer behind me, i was extra careful not to go over the speed limit), any one ever went to court to fight a speeding ticket? what to expect?
I'll spare the long details but was just curious if anyone ever went to court for one?

i usually have a lawyer handle it. Like Jay said they turn it into parking tickets. The one time i decided to go the cheap route it became such a hassle. Going to court early, looking for parking, getting some change for parking, nearly undressing for court metal detectors, preparing your case for the judge, actually showing it to the judge, judge not believing you and offers you to fight it (then he'll summon the officer who caught you to a later date in which you'll have to return) or simply plead guilty in which case the judge will tell you he'll bring it down to illegal parking if you do traffic school, then you'd still have to pay the damn fine., then you do the 5~8hour traffic school and exam.
so my advice?
just get a lawyer.

Craig Kenny all the way! you go down there .. usually takes 5 mins and usually don't have to do traffic school... if it's justice court you're good... municipal court is usually more expensive and you still might have to do traffic school depending on how large the ticket was... but definitely don't waste your time doing this by yourself.. the lawyers don't charge for the service .. it's free advertising for them i guess...
