Default A new rulebook for financial regulations

james stone, A new rulebook for financial regulation

James M. Stone, former chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and prior to that commissioner of insurance for Massachusetts, is CEO of the Plymouth Rock group of property and casualty insurance companies.

A little long but a fairly precise apolitical synopsis of the financial markets and regulatory influence.

Personally, I don't think he goes far enough. These "too big to be allowed to fail" institutions basically pointed a gun at our heads and demanded tribute. We need to ensure that they are no longer too big to be allowed to fail.

I say, "Break them up. Ensure that they cannot become big enough to hold a gun to our heads for at least another 100 years."
