I watched it tonight. (It was on again from 8 to 10 PM.)

Alan Greenspan's statement that he has a working knowledge of math and has "access to a couple of hundred PhD's" but he couldn't understand some of the CDO's. But the bond rating agencies rated them investment grade with no knowledge of what they were rating. I had thought that the rating agencies were simply negligent, but the show certainly hinted at collusion.

and they wonder why people won't touch the CDO's now.

In my heart I believe that they could come up with a metric based on how well the asset has been performing on a monthly basis to form a valuation metric.
I'm not real sure the banks want to though.
It might just be a case of the emperor's new clothes.
