So I should just blame the media when I lose my car and get evicted because I can't pay rent?
I wonder how easy it is to get welfare here? Or maybe file for bankruptcy? You are supposed to be able to keep your house and car. I already gave up a house, my car won't go w/o a fight though.
During difficult financial times, the wealthy seem to stay wealthy or gain more, and the poor just get poorer. I'd settle for earning more in a month than what my bills are at this point.
I guess the only upside is that I don't have a 401k so there is really no money for me to lose. Yes I will be eating bread and water when I am 65 - cat food is too expensive.

Yeah, times are definitely tough. But the media's doom and gloom coverage doesn't help consumer confidence. There could be a balance between reporting the good and bad, but as I said that doesn't sell.

but you not the media said you lost 20 guys
npr does NOT sell - they just report
with regards to consumer confidence, how can i be confident when i see the folks around me get laid off or let go or when i see my 401 drop 35% in six months?

see you stopped eating cause of your diet and this is what happens
That's funny you say that because the guys in my office were joking last week that "happy garden" (a favorite Chinese joint of mine) had to lay off a cook since I went on the diet

Bush told us about the threats. The media reported about how wasteful the war is and how terible the casualties were. In that case, the doom and gloom was the waste and hate for the president that sold papers and commercials on radio stations/tv.
The media plays whatever spin has the biggest bottom line.

Bill, I suspect that Bass,Lainey and Cubs See more of the doom and gloom than you do as they each work in a job that allows them to see and speak to many people in the course of a day.
Steve does collections so he is going to hear of the worse by nature of his job, Lainey works in an office and again deals with customers and is seeing it and same goes for cubs he see it.
I am not certain how many people you deal with in a day, also I suspect your clients would not come to you unless they had the funds for your sevices up front.
So in short I think what people may see out there is directly related to what they do.
