Default How much sleep do you need?

I figure on average during the week I get around 4 hours sleep a night....now a few years ago to me that would be unthinkable......

anyone else get by on 4 hours and if so is this bad for you?

Everyone tends to sleep in 90 minute cycles, the more of these sleep cycles you get in the more refreshing u feel. Interupting one does not do u as much good. U might feel a lot better if you just increased the sleep time to 4 1/2 hours. Of course the more sleep you get in the better.

I personally manage either 6 or 7 1/2 hours sleep.

we get interruptions with the baby and then when on pager I don't sleep because I worry it will go off, then of course when it does go off that's usually my sleep screwed for the night

I do the on call bit (althought not officially) and you just have to learn to ignore the phone / pager when its not ringing.

Think of it this way Paul, when you are awake and doing nrmal run of the mill activities, say going to the local newsagents, you may well take the pager with you but you don't worry that it might go off do you?

If it goes off, it goes off, awake or asleep, but being tired won't help to have a clear mind. As for the little one, u know they are worth it.

I normally aim for 8 hours a day for the start of the week and then have a few less over the weekend. (Unless I can get a lie in)

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 04:44 AM.
