I still think RIG & CHK move with oil and nat gas. IMO, today is a blip on the way down (with RIG capable of going down more than CHK).

On Chinese solar, I'm wondering if I shouldn't short CSUN in my fantasy league (big rise today)...

Very well could.....typcially energy bottoms in Sept/Oct time frame....we are getting close.

you can see in the charts that the falls are becoming less and less drastic.

There is obviously a pattern of support just under $15 but I'd want to see it bounce off of that before buying personally. Actually, I wouldn't buy it either way -- I've lost any faith I might have had in the Chinese economy for the time being.

It may look like support but if you draw a straight line from the Jan high through today you see a trajectory straight down. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole. Aside from it bouncing off the $15 mark it's failed to achieve a single higher high with each bounce falling shorter than the last. The best you could hope for in this stock is a rise to $20 and another fall to $15. If it jump and then drops back down I would get on board full on but until I see that inverse head and shoulders form there is no way.

Look again in January

The big news today is the spike in volume on the exchanges. Both the NYSE and NASDAQ volumes passed yesterday's volumes by 11AM this morning. That's a big move into equities and a lot of money flowing into the markets.

solar seems to be buoyed after STP crushed earnings. the big volume in YGE at around the 15.25 mark triggered the run in the afternoon. it'll be interesting to see how much of the ~20% short interest in YGE remains after this week.
