Major quarter charge and miss announced at the same time.

They will either rebound or get bought out at a premium.

man....some of you guys have some balls.

GM, WM.......I dunno.......definitely some balsy moves.

I see car sales declining here in the US.....world wide they should do well......but let's wait and see how oil prices are.

If anything....new cars will mainly be made with batteries....possibly lithium ion batteries.....and they use a lot of a certain metal that will be in shortages I am heavily invested in that metal

furthermore.....most alternative energy takes materials.....invest in the materials....I think its a safer bet then trying to pick a bottom in the shittiest sectors. While I think you are right in picking up some battered down companies....but their balance sheets suck......I don't even know how to value something like WAMU......same with GM....I see that debt.....and it looks nasty.

I personally wouldn't touch WM. Think they fail before year end.

Wow Futures are getting ugly. Looks like were heading below 10000 by next month.

I'm with lOOkatme on this market.

No matter how tempting they may seem, I wouldn't go near financials, autos, tech...really there are very few equities I see as being good long term investments. The only long I see working in this market are very particular energy plays. I'd short (and am personally shorting) the indexes.

That said, I'd prefer to be bullish on the economy and the markets. I'd love to invest in and believe in the long term prospects of traditional capitalism. But, as both I and lOOkatme have mentioned, there's NO catalyst to spur traditional long term growth. The only long I see is energy. Short everything else. There's no bottom in sight in my eyes.

A post of mine from June 18th:
DXD and USO continue to do well for me. And I think they'll be doing even better in the future.
Good luck everyone! See you at DOW four digits.

No long view for medical or biotech? I'm riding MRK and considering DNA (up on earnings today, but I figure it is due for multiple expansion). How about ARNA for a high-risk high-reward bet on a new diet drug (huge 3rd phase test running now)?

We get another Fed pump rally as the Fed members get paraded around TV once again. Notice how all the junk stocks are up today?

Seems like our government is headed in more of a socialist direction. Anyone else get that feeling?

Up 15% on the day in these positions.

No guts, no glory.
