If I see AAPl at mid 180's I'm dumping it and buy back after the release of the I phone.

The market is going to have to help you reach that mid $180s mark. Apple is not going to do it on its own.

wow the market is really rallying

VIX running toward $23.00, not a good thing if you wanted to see a market bottom.

This rally is all because of profit taking in oil on dollar strength. Nothing has changed in the market.

What do you guys think about AA earning?

Extremely high energy costs and slowing automotive and airline markets (their top aluminium customers) are sure to hurt earnings for the quarter.

The real news will come from their CC when they talk about the economy.

I am seeing the rally today as more of a short squeeze than a real news driven rally.

A lot of "crap" is up today. I wouldn't fight the trend and call a bottom.

I'm surprised aluminum prices haven't risen more. Unless AA can raise prices their next quarter might suck almost as much as this one is going to. But you have to think AA is about to become a value play, if not a take-over target.

Automotive is slow but the drive to fuel efficiency has to include more aluminum content, no? Or is DuPont winning that war with plastics (whose cost, most of 'em, is ALSO tied to oil)?
