Good video about energy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7zZRT8gRT4
Some good points made below
"If we liquify coal, which could destory the habitability of the earth, we will hit hubberts peak within this century."
"The physics to live a fossil fuel free socity comes down to sun light and nuclear."
"Nuclear uses Uranium, U235, which the largest plants can foster 1,000 MW of energy. If you wanted to replace all fossil fuels with Nuclear, you would need 10,000 of the largest nuclear plants."
"If civilization decided to build these nuclear power plants U235 would be exhausted in 10-20 years."
"Nuclear fusion is our best hope of energy, but technologically challeneging....and is 25 yrs away...and has been 25 years away for 50 years."
"Biomass is very inefficienct, very little sunlight is converted to chemical energy, and competes with food production."
"photovoltiacs (solar) would need to occupy half the state of CA to replace fossil fuels."
"there is plenty amount of energy from sun light, we just do not know how to use/harness it."
"we use between 25-30 billion barrels of oil a year."
"We eat oil"

Biomass has more future than current efficiency shows. Scientists are working on ways to get light into a thicker layer of algae, the big limiting factor.
Some of our energy consumption is elastic. If prices rise enough we'll use less. Car gas consumption is a good example. We could triple our average mileage tomorrow just by buying smaller cars with current tech. Not saying we will but it is possible.
I'll have to look into that nuclear energy limitation. Hadn't heard that exhaustion forecast before and I'm a big fan of nuclear.

The stock market is not healthy. The degredation of the financial sector can't go on much longer, especially at this rate. C dropped in to the 15's and the SKF just won't quit, it was up 9% about 10 mins ago.
GS is getting hit just like the rest of them as well.
AAPL is the only green on my screen besides something with "short" in the title.

I'm torn on AAPL. I know some of you are waiting until after earnings, and I'm still thinking to sell early if it hits $188, but Mac computer sales just might make earnings look great even with deferred iPhone income and lack of sales while ramping up the iPhone 2. And even with flat iPod sales... maybe.
But I think the smart play is to cash out and wait for the usual volatility after earnings.
Oh, and go GOOG!
