i am new to investing and just looking at some long term stuff for roth account. is it completely retarded to pick up any fannie mae or freddie mac stock right now? my limited understanding feels that in the long run they will rise back up from where they are. any input to help me make a decision?

Should have bought USD when it was par or near par. Not worth buying into the US market with the rate now. It'll cost u 20 bucks more for 100 USD.

Why not buy into Canadian banks or tech company? Rim.to is holding nice between 49-60 bucks range. BMO, TD, BNS, RY are very cheap.

I guess partially because I'm really looking at appl. Even though Rimm is at a very good price, I'm not convinced with the products that they''re coming out with will be extremely successful.

I do work at TD and I will be picking up some stock

End of the day rally was caused by index future short covering and an announcement of the next Treasury Secretary. Sounds like a great shorting opportunity to me.

I must be crazy and stupid but I did some buying this morning and yesterday. I look smart now but not very confident. Couldn't resist FCX at 18, atvi under 9.75, and BP under 40. I'll put my VNO/IYR short back on for the open on monday. If we get over 8750 I will start getting heavy on ultra short ETF's. I do not expect a true recovery for a long, long time; but I want dividend payments in the mean time.

I think Monday will be another green day for the markets. Tuesday will probably shoot up a bit and start declining or just in the red zone when the gates open.

I started my short position today. I will fill my position on Monday depending on how the markets act.

I've been looking to short the IYR for quite some time now.

Shorting VNO looks quite good also but I'll look more into it.
